The Co-operative Insurance Cup Semi-Finals

Monday 24th January 2011

Ross Ward, a young ambassasor with ENABLE Scotland, regularly undertakes abseils to raise funds for the charity. As we countdown to this weekend's Co-operative Insurance Cup Semi-Finals, we would like to draw the attention of fans attending the games to a very worthwhile charity collection that will take place pre-match.

ENABLE Scotland has been awarded The Co-operative Charity of the Year partnership 2011, along with its sister charity Mencap. The charity's target is to raise £500,000 in Scotland this year, which will be exclusively used to support young people in Scotland who have learning disabilities, along with parents, carers and local communities.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the organisation to expand on the invaluable work they do across Scotland.

ENABLE Scotland is a unique charitable organisation which is run by its members, who include: people who have learning disabilities, carers, family members and volunteers. They campaign for a better life for children and adults who have learning disabilities and support them along with their families to live, work and become active citizens within their communities.  Their aim is to ensure that people who have learning disabilities should be valued as full and active members of the community and should have the same rights as everyone else.

During 2011 ENABLE Scotland staff will be working with Co-operative staff to deliver a year-long programme of fundraising events. The money raised from this programme will allow the charity to transform the lives of thousands of young people who have learning disabilities as part of its commitment to the Inspire Me project along with its charity partners Mencap and The Co-operative.

Volunteers from the charity will be positioned on the approach roads as fans arrive at the National Stadium before the games on Saturday/Sunday and we ask fans to support their invaluable work in Scotland by making a donation to this really worthwhile cause.
