Shire to host 'Come Back day'
Thursday 23rd February 2012
East Stirling have designated their next home game on Saturday, March 3 against Peterhead, as ‘Come Back Day’ to entice fans back who have fallen out of the habit of watching football live to ‘Come Back’ to games.
The Third Division club will offer special incentives to encourage fans to return and boost attendances at home games after seeing their ‘Bring a Friend Day’ be a success last month against Montrose where season ticket holders could bring an extra guest for half price admission.
Chairman Tony Ford said, “Like just about every other club in Scotland we are feeling the pinch caused by the economic recession and we must try to do something about it.”
“We can all point to an empty seat and we all know someone who does not come as often to Shire matches as they once did.”
Ford will be busy as he explained, “We will be contacting season ticket holders who did not renew in the summer and inviting them along to the Peterhead match. Former sponsors and people who have booked hospitality in the past but who did not this season will also be targeted.”
The club are also giving away free tickets for the game to encourage young fans to get the Shire habit with Ford adding, “We have chosen Peterhead as we will be welcoming back former coach Jim McInally for the first time since he left the club in the summer. Our team needs all the support it can muster right now and we are hoping by offering an incentive to those who have perhaps got out of the way of coming to Shire games we can rekindle an interest.”
