Goal of the Month Award on its way

Friday 17th September 2010

SFL.TVThe Scottish Football League’s plans to launch a Goal of the Month Award voted for by fans has been delayed by a week because of an embarrassment of riches in the goals scored in the opening stages of the season.

A panel of independent judges was asked to pick their favourites from the footage on the SFL’s new TV station, SFL.TV for fans to vote on, however they came back with a total of 37 different goals scored in the ALBA Challenge Cup, The Co-operative Insurance Cup and the three IRN-BRU Divisions.

Operations Manager David Thomson said, “The initial award is to cover July and August games and we had hoped to have fans voting for it now but it appears there were just too many good goals scored. The panel have now been asked to agree their top ten and we will give fans the chance to pick the winner from this weekend.”
