| Clubs can move kick offs
The Scottish Football League have written to their 30 member clubs advising them that they can move the kick off for the fixtures on Saturday, November 14 to avoid a clash with Tartan Army fans. Scotland are now playing a friendly international with Wales that afternoon with a 3.00pm kick off with the game being shown live on Sky Sports. David Thomson, Operations Director at Hampden said, “When the fixtures were arranged this Saturday was due to be a play-off match for Scotland’s World Cup campaign and we would certainly have worked around that. The Wales match was only arranged at the beginning of October and when we became aware of the live TV showing of the game we wrote to our clubs accordingly. It will take the agreement of both clubs to move the kick off but we have no issues with it.” Livingston have already agreed to move the kick off to their Third Division match with Albion Rovers to 12.30pm. Barr's time at Albion Rovers looks to be at an end Albion Rovers boss Paul Martin has decided that winger Robert Barr’s time with the Third Division club is at an end after running out of patience with the player’s attitude towards him, the coaching staff at Cliftonhill and the rest of the players in the Rovers first team squad. Martin said, “Robert decided to shout at me and the coaching staff in a wholly inappropriate way during the first half at Berwick on Saturday. What he shouted was disrespectful to everyone connected with the club including his team-mates on the pitch. It was heard by the Main Stand and when I spoke to him about it at half time he continued, again in an inappropriate way, and he was immediately substituted.” The Coatbridge club went on to lose 2-0, however Barr’s behaviour was not an isolated incident with Martin explaining, “That is the fourth time in games recently Robert has shouted things at me or my assistant Todd Lumsden or his team-mates that has shown a total lack of respect. It has happened at training countless times and I have also been able to smooth things over but enough is enough.” Martin added, “Robert is a talented player, he was the Third Division Player of the Year last season, and I have invested a lot of time in him since he came here both on and off the pitch. I have probably compromised myself with the other players because of the amount of times I have let him away with things but that is at an end now. I have protected him in lots of ways but we only want players who want to play for this club and not disrespect it.” Rovers chairman Frank Meade is fully behind his manager with Martin explaining, “This has not been an easy decision to make and I spoke at great length to Frank about it and he has agreed that for the sake of Albion Rovers it is better that Robert finds another club.” Martin finished by saying, “I will work with Robert to help find him somewhere to continue his career but he will not be playing at Cliftonhill again.” It is believed that a top Junior side from the East Region has already been in contact with Martin to discuss taking the player. Scally almost there Queen of the South midfielder Neil Scally is back to full fitness and Palmerston Park boss Gordon Chisholm is hoping to get the player ready for a first team return by taking part in a bounce game. Coughlin looks beyond Reid Stenhousemuir manager John Coughlin has dropped his interest in full back Alan Reid, who returned to Ochilview recently. Coughlin said, “Alan has played two games for us as a trialists and could play again, however he is still keen for full time football so it was best for Stenhousemuir if we concentrate on the players that will be here going forward.” Thomson’s injury required operation East Fife’s summer signing from Dunfermline Scott Thomson underwent surgery last Thursday on his injured ankle. Queen’s Park keen to extend Quinn loan deal Queen’s Park are keen to extend St Mirren striker Paul Quinn’s loan spell at the club despite the 19 year old being sent off against Elgin City at the weekend. Hampden Head Coach Gardner Speirs said, “Paul’s last game was due to be against East Stirling this Saturday, however he is now banned for that game. We would like to see Paul continue to play for us and will be contacting Gus McPherson to see what can be arranged.” McGowne in to help Weir New Arbroath boss Jim Weir looks set to bring in his former assistant manager at Montrose, Kevin McGowne, to Gayfield in a similar position. Connolly scouting for Premiership side Former Dundee United, St Johnstone and Brechin City striker Paddy Connolly is now working as a scout for English Premiership side Fulham. Testimonial Dinner fit for King Brechin City longest-serving player, Charlie King will be honoured with a Testimonial Dinner in the Northern Hotel on Saturday, December 5. King’s former boss at Glebe Park, Dick Campbell will provide the entertainment. Sammy the Scurry flies in Peterhead’s new Seagull mascot has been named as Sammy the Scurry after a competition ran by the Balmoor club. Feroz swaps Junior clubs Former Livingston and Brechin City striker Craig Feroz has swapped Glenafton Athletic for Kirkintilloch Rob Roy. |
