Weatherston sees Queens through
Queen of the South came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Partick Thistle in the second round of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup.
David Weatherston was the hero for Queens, coming off the bench and scoring twice after Simon Donnelly had put Thistle ahead.
The visitors looked the more likely to break the deadlock early on and Stewart Kean and Derek Holmes both saw shots saved by Jonny Tuffey.
Paul Burns also went close with a header which hit the side-netting, yet it was Partick who went ahead on the half hour with their first shot on target.
Donnelly was fouled by Marc McAusland and picked himself up to curl a superb 22-yard free-kick high into the net.
Queens drew level after 64 minutes when Weatherston scored with his first touch - drilling a Burns cross high into the net.
And Weatherston grabbed a dramatic winner in injury-time when he converted another fine delivery from Burns.
